OTTAVIO MARCHESE
After arriving in the United States, Ottavio Marchese Americanized his name and became known as Johnny Marches. Johnny and Netha are pictured in the photo.
When Ottavio Marchese immigrated to the United States from Palermo, Sicily, in 1907, he brought his authentic sausage recipe with him. His recipe featured a flavorful blend of Italian spices from the Old Country. Ottavio opened a cafe in Houston, TX and for years he and his wife, Netha, along with their sons, Anthony and Joseph, operated their cafe in the Houston Heights. In later years, after the cafe closed its doors, Joseph continued the tradition of making the sausage at home for family and friends on holidays and special occasions. Today, Joseph's family would like to share the true Italian flavor of their authentic recipe with you.
Marchese Italian Sausage is made with pork, beef and Johnny's special blend of Italian spices. The sausage contains no artificial preservatives or MSG. It is fresh frozen to preserve the authentic flavor and provide a longer shelf life. Our sausage is no longer made at home, but is produced in a USDA inspected and approved sausage plant in Houston not far from the location of the original cafe in the Houston Heights.
